Goat Canada Goat!

Incredible. Amazing. Proud. Canada has put on a performance of it’s life these past weeks, and I was fortunate enough to be a part of that. Congrats to all of the athletes, you have shown the world that Canada is the greatest…(and that hockey game was unreal)

We have reset the goat-o-meter, to our new goal of 500! We are at 204 already, so thanks for all our support thus far! I was lucky enough to attend a few events and share my Goat T-Shirt with the world. You too can have a piece of Canadian history with your very own Goat for Gold T-Shirt! All proceeds are going directly into the goat fund, and there is limited supply left, so get yours today!

As Good as Gold

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAT A WAY TO WRAP UP THE OLYMPICS!!!!! GOLD!!!! I am going to celebrate by buying a goat and celebrating Canada, and so should you!! When Crosby scored I wept. Tears of joy. I have never been so proud to be Canadian. I love my country. OH CANADA!

The Wonderful Women of Wednesday

What a day to be Canadian! This is the type of day that I have been waiting for since the Olympics began. After the crashes, falls and missed opportunities of this past weekend I had convinced myself to take the same approach as the lone Ethiopian in these winter games: I was just happy to be here. Then today happened. Going into today I would have just been happy to have Canada beat Russia in hockey. Some great performances by some great Canadian women almost made me forget about the hockey game! Almost.

This afternoon Clara Hughes became the only Olympian in history to win multiple medals in both the Summer and Winter games. She won the bronze medal in women’s 5000 meter speed skating. At the age of 37 this is amazing. If I can skate 1 meter when I am 37 I would be happy. I would also be happy to have a quarter of the muscle she has. Wow.

The Canadian women’s short-track team then won what appeared to be the bronze medal in the 3000 meter race. But after video review the first place Koreans were disqualified which meant Canada won the silver! Not before the Koreans had already taken an emotional victory lap, wrapped in their country’s flag.

Then came the women’s bobsled. The Germans must not have been driving a Volkswagen bob sled as that great German engineering we hear about in the commercials was not present. Or it was driver error. Either way, Germany crashed allowing Canada to take the gold and silver in the event!

Not to be lost in the shuffle is the Canadian hockey team! They came out flying tonight and earned a 7-3 victory over the rival Russians.

Canada has tied it’s previous record of 7 gold medals at a winter Olympics, and there are still 4 more days of competition to go!

It was the best day of the Olympics for Canada and it was thanks to some great Canadian women. Also, a shot out to the Canadian woman who gave me my burger at McDonald’s today. I don’t know what she did but I have never had a McChicken burger taste so good. Maybe it was the 5 extra packs of McChicken sauce I added. Mmmmmm. A shout out to all the Canadian women. Great job.

Tough Weekend

I hope that everybody is feeling a little better today after a tough weekend for Canada. At least goats were still purchased. We are up to 149 goats as of this morning. $5,150 worth of goats. Great job! The other good thing that is coming from the tough loss in the hockey game last night is that hockey is (very suddenly and probably temporarily) a big deal in the USA.

Some say that we only lost because the USA team had a better goalie. But I am quite sure we let the USA win. This way we can play an extra game and have more chances to celebrate a win! And what else captures the Canadian spirit like taking it easy on our opponents? We are all about that warm and welcoming attitude. So, welcome to Vancouver everybody. I hope you’re having as much fun as I am.

Here are the updated medal standings. Canada has 4 gold medals so get your 4 goats!

GOLD MEDAL #2!

Maelle Ricker won Canada’s second gold medal of the games today in the women’s snowboard cross! After a tough qualifying round she bounced back very nicely to take the gold medal. The hometown girl delivered in the clutch. I think the people that live around me are going to file noise complaints that coincide with the times Canada wins a gold medal. It’s just so exciting! Time to buy your Ricker goat!!

GOLD!!!!!!!!

Alexandre Bilodeau is the first Canadian to win gold in Canada!!! WOOOOHOOOOO!!!! What a great story! Canada’s first gold medal at the 2010 Olympics! You know what that means: Time to buy your gold medal goat! I’m going to buy mine right now! I am so proud.

The Olympics are Here!

After years of waiting, the Olympics are finally here in Vancouver! (Am I allowed to say “Olympics?”) Thanks to you, 86 goats were purchased for donation before the Olympics even began! That’s $2967 worth of goats. Great job!

Yesterday got off to a tough start with the luge accident, but it was great to see the Georgian team get a standing ovation when they walked into the Opening Ceremony. Other than that, the Olympics have been great so far. I have put the rest of life on the back burner as I am just so excited for these Olympics. Last night I looked out the window and saw what looked like someone stealing my car. Then I looked at the TV and saw that the Olympics were on. Who needs a car anyways?

Jennifer Heil won Canada’s first medal tonight in the womens moguls. It would have been great to see her take home a gold but a silver medal is nothing to sneeze at. For all you people who are allergic to silver.

Tomorrow at 1:00 PT in the afternoon the fasted speed skating women in the country will try and win the first Canadian gold medal on Canadian soil… It will actually be on Canadian ice, but everyone keeps saying “Canadian soil.” So we’ll hope for a gold medal tomorrow. And along with it, more goats. I just really want to see that goat-o-meter explode.

There are a few Goat For Gold t-shirts still available on time for the Olympics. Extra Larges have sold out, but other sizes are available. I wore my Goat For Gold shirt around today and people just said, “Wow… he looks great.” And that definitely had everything to do with the shirt.

I love goats.

GOAT SHIRTS! And 73 GOATS!

We are up to 73 goats! We are 8 days away from the Olympics and people have already donated $2518.5 worth of goats. I am not a farmer, but I think it’s pretty accurate to refer to 73 goats as a “herd.” Is a group of goats called a “herd?” Someone told me a group of goats is referred to as a “trip.” Herd, trip, either way 73 goats is a lot of goats. So we can all proudly say that we have donated a herd/trip of goats.

Speaking of which, have you “herd” the exciting news? (Good one, me)

Goat For Gold T-shirts are here! First of all, I would like to thank the professional model who kindly donated his time to model a shirt in the pictures below. You can tell by his hat and the football that he is an athlete. Between photo shoots in Milan and Paris he some how made time to do a photo shoot for Goat For Gold.

The shirts are 100% cotton and look great. You can make a fashion statement and a social statement at the same time by sporting one of these trendy shirts. The shirts feature the Goat For Gold logo on the front and the website on the back. The shirts are $25 for Canadians, $30 for Americans, and $35 Internationally. 100% of the proceeds will continue to go to supporting families and their new goats!

The shirts will be shipped the day after an order is placed.

Thanks so much for your purchase!

99.3 The Drive

99.3 The Drive Interview

We have 53 goats as of this morning, that is unbelievably amazing, and we thank you for your continued support! The olympics are coming up quick, it’s going to be a great time.

Fact: People love goats.

There have been a few informative and humorous stories written about Goat For Gold over the past day or so. I SO appreciate the people who are taking the time to write about these gorgeous horned and hooved creatures in their newspaper or on their websites. Let’s face it folks: I dare you to find a more graceful and elegant creature than the goat. Exactly. You can’t. Check out the “In The Media” section of the website to read the recent articles. When you see a headline that says  “During The Olympics, Crazy Canadians To Collect Cloven-Hoofed Critters For Charity” you know it’s going to be a good read.
