Thanks for helping spread the good word about goats! I recently took a goat to a church where the children had been donating their allowances to purchase a goat for a family in Africa. My goat, Jet, was there to make it all seem more real and so they could meet a goat and learn about them. Goats are my favorite animals, they are funny, playful, curious, affectionate, clever and social creatures (I call them monkeys with hooves). I have a herd of 30 goats that I keep purely as pets (some are rescues). They put life into perspective. One knows how to open stall doors, another likes to untie my shoelaces, unzip my jacket, pull off my mittens and untuck my shirt. They have managed to lock me in the chicken coop. Several will come to me simply for some affection. When I spend an evening in the barn after a rough day, they give me a sense of peace and joy.
